I’m locked out of my share house. How much?
$145 all up for a standard house lockout, any hour, in Geelong and Melbourne’s west. That includes the call-out, travel, time and GST. We check photo ID or proof of address before we open the door.
A housemate moved out and didn’t give the key back. What now?
Get the locks rekeyed so the old keys stop working. A unit or townhouse up to 2 locks is $179 and a house up to 4 locks is $269, with 2 new keys. Split between four housemates, that’s well under $70 each.
Can I put a lock on my bedroom door?
Often, yes. A keyed privacy lock on a bedroom door is a common share house job. If you rent, ask your agent or landlord first, because you need their consent to change or add a lock in Victoria. We’ll send a written quote you can forward to them.
Do I need the landlord’s permission to change the locks?
For most renters, yes. You need the rental provider’s consent, and they can’t unreasonably refuse. Renters experiencing family violence with a qualifying order don’t need consent for external locks.
Can I pay by card?
Yes: card on the spot including tap and Apple Pay, PayID, bank transfer or cash. You get a tax invoice by email the same day.
